Help me please for lan cable

    Hi i am an new user for the NETWORKING.....here is the problem with my LAN connection..i have one INTEL desktop and LENOVO laptop i want to connect these two devices with LAN cross cable...i have connected with cross cable and shared both devices..connected successfully with LAN cross cable but i cannot access LAPTOP files in DESKTOP and also cannot access INTERNET on LAPTOP any solution please share thanks in advance:confused:

    I am using RELIANCE netconnect(CDMA-MODEM) for desktop to connect internet.i can not access LAPTOP files in DESKTOP any solution pls share thanks in advance

    I'm not familiar with Reliance, but you would need to share your internet connection and to be able to access files you will have to share the drive (or folders) at least

    sharmavnn, whats the OS you are using on both laptop & desktop ?

    Reliance Netconnect is not designed to be used for LAN & could be problematic with frequent disconnections & very low speeds. It may work for you if you want to access it through LAN for only brief periods. If you want a stable & problem free LAN internet access for long periods, then its not the way to go.

    I am using WINDOWS XP HOME SP2 in DESKTOP and LAPTOP sir can u give detailed information regarding stable & problem free LAN internet access for long periods

    ok, but first stop calling me 'sir'. We are all equal here :).

    From what I understand, you want to do the following:

    1. Internet is connected to your desktop.
    2. You want to access the net on your laptop too.
    3. You want to access laptop files from desktop. How about reverse ?

    Is the net working ok on your desktop ?

    yes net is connected in my desktop and working fine
    yes i want to access the net in my LAPTOP too
    yes i want to access the LAPTOP files in my DESKTOP...while i connected with LAN cross cable i can access the DESKTOP files in LAPTOP successfully but coming to LAPTOP files in DESKTOP it not possible...any solution pls share....thanks in advance:confused:
