I recently got a new 19-inch wide screen monitor and now any picture I set as the desktop duplicates itself. I don't mean that there are two files of the picture; the picture layers itself on top of itself, on the desktop. Any ideas?

Hi remosun123. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Have you tried changing the screen resolution to fit the new monitor? Have you clicked the menu button on the monitor and looked at the display settings there?

Have tried all different settings, from desktop settings to video card settings to different pictures. The computer is a Dell laptop connected to a docking station. The picture is fine on the laptop monitor when the computer is removed from the docking station, but is duplicated on the monitor (19 inch) when it is returned to the docking station. The monitor that it replaced never had this problem, and I have several laptops set up like this in my office, that do not have this problem. If fact, I have never seen anything like this. It is weird.

I have ran across a reference of this from time to time stating that if laptop lcd monitor is left on while external monitor is on the wallpaper will dupe. Could this be the case?

Well, the problem seems to have fixed itself but not sure how. It just started displaying correctly.

Great, remosun123. Post back if you continue to have problems with the display. :)

Ah! You've used the old "it fixed it's self" fix. I sure wish someone would figure out how to reproduce that magic fix so it can be used at one's whim. I'm glad the windows gremlins let go of your system and hope this is a past memory. :)

Ann, That generally means that "I'll be back." ;)

Many of the unusual Desktop display problems are due to having some Web service checked on the options. I don't think that's relevant this time but just wanted to mention it in passing.
