Can anyone help me figure out how to get my computer restored to factory fresh. I have a VPR Matrix model 1600 computer, with Windows XP home edition. I have put the Windows CD in then click on restart. I have clicked on F8, F11, Enter... ect... all before the flash screen, and cannot seem to get to the screen that will let me format my Reg.Format. I did this years ago, with no problem, and now I can not seem to get it !! very frustrating!

    Hello DiLa,
    welcome to WindowsBBS ... :) ... !

Often, the boot order is set (in BIOS) to CD first, Floppy second (if a Floppy Drive is installed) and finally Hard Disk. The boot order may be set to Hard Disk first and CD second. If the latter is the case, the computer will boot to the normal operating system no matter what you try. You will have to get into BIOS to change the boot order to CD first.

I have never seen a "VPR Matrix model 1600 computer" but try hitting the "delete key" or any of the "function keys" (F10 is not uncommon) to get into BIOS and find your way to the boot order setting. If you are uncertain that you did it correctly, escape out without saving and try again.

On some systems if you turn off the system and unplug it for about 2 minutes then plug it in and turn it on on the first screen it will tell you how to get to the bios. If you miss it you may need to unplug it again to get it to show again. Also for curiosity I have seen systems without a floppy drive installed still list it in the boot order.

    paul53103,
    welcome to WindowsBBS ... :) ... !
Yes, the motherboard manufacturer has made it possible to use a floppy drive but the system manufacturer has chosen not to. In the boot order setup, it is often commented "not present" or "not installed ".

    DiLa,
It's all down to timing ... ... I was lucky to be the first one to respond!
