I am using Vista and Word 2007 and trying to reset my Word template back to its default setting.

Currently my template looks like a grid and it has formated on all my Word documents. I hope to remove this template and have my documents return to there original format. Any help to make this happen is appreciated.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

You can seek out and destroy the hidden/default template Default.dotx (i'm pretty sure that's the file name)

It'll get recreated next time you open Word.

    Howdy,

It may be named normal.dotm for word 2007. See:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100307561033.aspx

    Suggest you rename this.........
If Normal.dotm is renamed, damaged, or moved, Word automatically creates a new version (which uses the original default settings) the next time that you start Word. The new version will not include any of the customizations that you made to the version that you renamed or moved.

I'm a little confused as a google search refers to both these templates. You may find both, the above mentioned and a normal.dotx, < used for blank documents. If so, a rename and a rebuild on both can't hurt, either one at a time or at the same time. This way should the desire or need arise, you can always delete the new and restore the older, renamed template(s).

    simple solution

    In Word 2007..
    Go to View menu
    Uncheck gridlines
    Hey Presto! its gone.....

Deleting normal.dotm will also not help!!
