My computer is running a little slow and I realize there can be many causes. I dont know how big my hardrive is but I did set this program up so others good view my numbers. I just downloaded a ton of stuff and am wondering if that is the reason if so and even if it not the reason can anyone suggest a device to store all my harddrive stuff on. I have a flash drive but it is small. My buddy told me there is a device that is as big as a bible that you can tranfer stuff on and also he told me if i call my internet provided they might be able to somehow store or back up my stuff.
I used the word store but menat back up.
I have too much data to lose now. Oh, money is an issue! I can spend maybe between 100 and 150 dollars at best.
Thanks for reading== You guys have helped me so much on this site.
    Thanks for reading

Open My Computer-> Right click on the C drive and select Properties. The "pie chart" will show you the Total Size of the drive and the amount of free space.

    Thomas,

What your buddy talks about sounds like my Western Digital World Book external hard drive. I have a 500GB and it's about the size of a book. Very handy. It just plugs in by USB and it's off and running. I only connect mine when needed. A few months ago, it cost me about $120, but I think they are cheaper now.

    need more hardware space

    Thanks Mike,

Would you say that is the best option for me?. I have about four years of information on the computer and dont want to lose it. If I didnt state it before, I am looking for a practical , easy to use device that has plenty of space. I am not computer savy at all. My buddy told me what he was talking about will save all I have and a TON more than I will ever need (space) I can afford the 120 so would say that would be the move for me.
Thanks again Mike and for all the support from everyone I get on this site.
    Thanks for reading

    Hi Thomas,

You're welcome. For easy extra storage, I feel that they are the best solution. Just hook up with the USB cord and start copying/transferring your files over. As has been mention on the site before, copying your important files/information over to DVDs/CDs is a good thing to do also. Doing a quick search, you can get up to a 1TB drive for under $150. The prices have really come down.

    hardware space

Thanks, for all or any readers,
I will try the disk route or maybe even purchase the devise. i will go online to undertand the process for doing the disk system. unfortunatley what is a no brainer for most people with computers always seems to turn into a huge challenge for me even when it is the smallest task.

if you know of a web site that can help me learn to burn these disks please let me know. Also i was told to call my high speed internet service and they could possibly save my data for me??
i apologize for all the questions, please only answer what people feel comfortable answering.
    Thanks 4 reading
    :)Thomas

Since you never answered Steve's question

We have no idea if you really need additional storage.

Thomas (and anyone else who needs storage) might want to consider an online backup service for your information that you consider "archival" (not accessed alot). They are cheap, easy, and ultra-safe as all your data is encrypted.

As I (and others) have said before, it's not if your hard drive will die, it's when. Though I do find today's HDDs quite reliable.
