Hi, for the last couple of days Mozilla firefox has been playing up. When I click on the shortcut (or even the actual file) my computer (XP) just opens a blank window, really blank. I get an empty tab down in my taskbar with just the firefox logo, and when I click on it I get a small head for a window with only the firefox logo, minimise maximise and close. I thought perhaps someone had just shrunk the window to be a pain but when I drag it out again it is just an empty white window. No toolbar or anything.

Has anyone else been having this problem? I have never had any trouble with firefox in the past. I don't want to unistall it and start again unless it's absolutely necessary because I have alot of important bookmarks and things which I woud hate to lose. Can anyone help? Cheers

The profile does not need restoring. It remains where it is. Uninstalling FF, rarely, accomplishes anything, and on reinstalling, it will pick up the previously used profile (if there is only one existing profile). Creating a new profile , neglecting the information typical to the Mozilla suite, and using the new profile could do the job. Since the Firefox version is not mentioned Arie's post may be relevant

O.K. I played around trying to make a new profile and transfer data and all that jazz, until eventually I got fed up and decided it wouldn't be so bad to lose all my bookmarks and data. I Uninstalled firefox, leaving personal data still on my system (via the checkbox in the uninstall wizard) and when I downloaded firefox 3 again it all turned out fine. The download from the Mozilla website was corrupt so I used download.com. Settings and things are exactly as they were before. I guess to fix this problem reinstalling is the best option. Cheers for your help everyone
