Outlook Connector will not work

I am running Windows Vista 64 bit and Outlook 2007. I set up a Hot mail account and downloaded the connector account from the Microsoft website. It does not work so I uninstalled and reinstalled the connector account. I still cannot send email thru my connector account, but I can send it from the Microsoft Hot mail website. Does anyone have any thoughts on why I cannot send mail from this account? If you have any thoughts please post them.

Hi Arie, thank you very much for your help, but I just realized the problem is not with the connector account. I thought any Microsoft web based email would work so I installed Hotmail, but evidently I have to install Windows live mail along with the Hotmail account. I then installed Windows live mail and still couldn't make it work. Next time my mentor comes over I'll see if he can make it work for me; if we can't get it to work I'll just change my SMTP server everytime I go on vacation. But I really appreciate you trying to help me make it work.
