I'm looking for a monitor cable to connect my laptop (widscreen WXGA display) to a 32" Sony LCD TV (which has a PC In 15 pin connection). I see cables advertised as SXGA, UXGA, SVGA, VGA...will these cables work with my WXGA display laptop?

P.S. I wouldn't get a VGA cable as I believe it's not as good as the SVGA and other???

    Yes

Edit: Obviously your laptop would need the required output and available resolutions would depend both on your laptop and possibly the TV.

    Why?

Right after I hit the post button, I found the answer to my question. It's all about resolutions. I also found a couple of charts on line denoting the various resolutions for WXGA, SXGA, VGA etc.

I would not want the VGA cable because it would give the lowest screen resolution.
