I am using Nero 8 to burn audio CD's but I'm challenged to be able to include the name of the track on the CD.

Here is what I'm doing: I open Nero, drag the playlist from Media Monkey to the Nero "burn audio CD" page, click burn and off it goes.

Here is what I get: The titles on the CD read "Track01.cda," Track 02.cda" and so on.

Of course I can't edit the CD once it's burned and thus I've been stuck with that naming convention. I've gone to the Nero support site and searched their knowledge base but either haven't searched with the right terms or they don't address this issue.

If someone could advise me what I need to do to burn my CD's with proper track names it would bring joy to my life :)

Is track information even stored on Audio Discs?

Exactly... check the properties of the file and see if the Track information is blank or not.

I have explored the tracks I burn to a CD as well as tracks on commercially produced Cd's and neither have names other than what I described i.e. Track01.cda.....

When looking at the properties of any of the tracks there is nothing I see that identifies the track as being specific to a specific tune. So where does the playing software get the information (like song name and artist, etc) when it loads a track? Imbeded in the song possibly?

I was hoping that I could name the tracks as that would make it easier to identify a track if I haven't labeled the disk properly or, God forbid, not at all.

    Jim,

I may be wrong here if I am I'm sure someone will help but...

AFAIK Audio CD's do not contain track information, they do however have a unique identifier which playback software can use to look on the internet for track info and various other usefull information see Wiki.

MP3's WMA's etc can hold this information in the actual files but obviously they're not compatible with Audio CD's

I had visions of someone telling me it was so easy a caveman could do it!

After reading the information at Wikipedia (what a great asset) it seems clear to me that I can't get there from here. We should file this question under "caveman questions! "

Another day in my never ending education.... Thanks y'all for you input.

    No problem,

I'm sorry I couldn't provide you with a more positive result...

Now if we can just find a caveman with a computer and cd player ;)
