    hi

when i am trying to connect VMWARE SERVER it is prompting me to enter host name, user name and password. After entering these credentials an error message is displayed "select the vmware host that you want to connect to and enter a valid user name and password ".System configuration is
    RAM : 1GB
    HDD : 80GB
    Host os : windows 2003
    Guest os: Windows xp

I have entered a valid user name and password and also Host name but still i am facing this problem. previously it was working fine without prompting me to enter these credentials .

Make sure the VMWare server service is running. Then check your server's firewall settings. The server's connection firewall may be blocking the port. Also try either the IP address of the server (rather than the server name) or 127.0.0.1 (assuming the server is running where you are trying to view an instance.

    hi

VMWARE Service is already running and also there is no firewall option in VMWARE 1.0.4. I checked each and evry option but could not find Firewall setting. When i am trying to connect by entering credentials an error message is displayed :cannot connect to host vishwanath No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it ".Previously it was not asking me to enter these credentials (Host Name, user Name and Password) Only Local Host and Network host was displaying

Considering this problem together with the one you've posted here:

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-s...ame-vishwanath0-seleted-due-name-conflic.html

I think it could be the same underlying cause: you have a problem with NetBIOS or DNS and that is preventing correct name resolution and that's causing knock on authentications problems.

Therefore, let's get the other problem fixed first, and then return to the VMWare problem (if that isn't fixed by correcting the other problem).

    hi

I have installed VMWARE software on windows 2003 server and also i have created three virtual os Prevously this was working fine I dont think that it is related with DNS or NetBIOS. The DNS which i am creating is on Windows 2003 server (HOST) AND also i have installed VMWARE software on Host OS which is windows 2003 server

    hi

Today i checked that i was unable to restart "VMWARE AUTHORIZATION SERVICE ". When i was trying to restart this service it was giving me error message could not start the vmware authorization service on local computer. For more information, review the system Event Log. If this is a non microsoft service contact the service vendor and refer to service specific error code 6000002.I also checked the Event Viewer " The description for event ID(100) in source (VMAUTHD) CANNOT BE FOUND. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL filesto display messages from a remote computer . You May be able to use the /AUXSOURCE=FLAG to retrive this description.
