In mid-2009 Microsoft will be offering free internet virus protection. Look at this link - www.nytimes.com/reuters/technology/tech-us-microsoft-malware.html?ref=technology - I already have free AVG installed on my Windows XP computer. My question is this: Can I put both Microsoft's free virus prection softare on my computer and use both Microsoft's software and my AVG software without causing any problems? Thank you.abm

Considering MS offering isn't available yet I can only give pointers...

I would try very much to avoid having two AV packages running on a system at the same time but if you must then you most certainly have to ensure that real time protection (Resident Shield in AVG) is only active on one of the packages and when running a scan with the other disable the real time protection on the first during the scan.
