    hi there

I have a problem in a Windows Xp Sp3 on a AMD Based System, it happens very often, when i have one or two or even more windows open, i can´t close the windows, i can minimize them but can´t close any of them. The clicks out of the windows don´t respond not even the start menu, Only way it´s rebooting or calling the task manager then the system unfreezes for a while, wird ....

I´ve tried anything i can remember, changed the memory's, disconnecting the usb´s, i have change the hard drive, i have updated the system bios and all the drivers in the system.

    I have a Asrock K7VM4 with a athlon xp 2000+.

i have a hp 5510 all-in-one printer, i know there´s an issue with the hp software, so i have patched with the updates that where on their site, but i have all ready uninstalled the drivers of the printer and uninstalled the software related, and the problem still go´s on.

I have already changed the cooler cause the cpu was 58º now it´s on 49/50.

    Any tips????

Thanks for your help, and sorry about my English.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)
Which application is it that you have open when this happens? Is it the same apps or will any app cause the problem?

Have you thought of going back to an earlier date in system restore?

Not the same apps, could happens in Ie, explorer, firefox, outlook, it happened in control panel, add remove progs,...

Do you know any problems related with software Bonjour from apple? there´s an apple in the network that access some folders on this pc. The prog is updated, and i can´t find any problems documented in apple or microsoft.

I have the clam anti-virus, the spybot, spywareblaster, i work with this progs for months, i don´t think they are the problem.

    thanks

No, but i will try that, i am doing some test now, the problem is this pc is from a client of mine, when i need to test something i have to wait a day, cause it could happen on the first hour or in the 5 hour of work, so i have to wait that it happens during the day.

I have uninstalled again the hp sofware and drivers, cleaned the registry, and i am remotely connected, wanting to see if it freezes.

    Thanks

Hi ptmocho, do a Google on AMD SP3 and there are references to Jespers Blog which list a lot of problems and fixes for the above. Neil.

I had the same problem with my rig amd athlon 2800+, will check my notes on what I did to fix the problem. I know I did make some registry changes,

I did change the bios setting from plug n play OS to non plug n play os.

    Will check back here later.
