Does the system use the ram first then the pagefile or vice-versa ? Is there anyway to make it use ram first then the pagefile ? Hope this question makes sense LoL :)

    Thanks

Windows uses RAM and pagefile in parallel and that's a good thing. When started, programs request a certain amount of "memory" and the programmers have set that request to be high enough which, in most cases is higher than it ever will need. Windows allocates some of the request in RAM and the excess in the pagefile. If not, the first program you start might deplete RAM completely and when you open the second program, there will be heavy paging to and from the pagefile.

What is the reason for your question?

That's quite normal, as turning off the pagefile, prevents windows from copying unused programdata from the RAM to the harddiskdisk until it is required again. In the end, you may end up having memory problems when you have no pagefile and a lot of applications are running at the same time.

Application data stored on the HD is a lot slower to retrieve by the system than the parts in actual RAM, so the more physical memory you have, and less data should be sent to the pagefile, the faster your computer will run in difficult memory sitiuations.

You don't. It is possible by changing priority in task manager but by doing so you're asking for trouble from other more important software.

Unless you need to then leave well alone, if you need to why?

    P.S.

Unless you mean to turn of the pagefile completley? This would ensure your applications only used RAM but would very likely lead to an unstable system (depending on how busy it is).
