I have just installed Windows XP over Windows Me and although everything is working properly the restart and reset button do not work. When I press restart the computer shuts down but fails to reboot and I get an error message saying "Error Loading Operating System" and the same with the reset button. If I close down the system for a few seconds then it boots up without any problem. -Any Ideas?

Looks like there is a problem with the way the OS were installed. Are you sure you didnt install both OS on the same partition or using same system folder?

Hi elderly novice, Have you tried running sfc /scannow? Start>Run>sfc /scannow>OK and have your XP CD ready as it may require Files. Neil.

Note: space between sfc and /.
