    Recently I got hit my a virus attack and after days of trying to fix my PC, I decided to replace the installation of Windows, which sorted most of the things out. But one problem is annoying me now...

    My display driver "Radeon 9200 LE Family" card and despite re-installing the driver several times, it comes up with the yellow disc in Device Manager. Then I install the drivers again and it works, but when I reboot its the same again.

    Any ideas? Thanx ;)

    I've moved your thread to the Hardware forum where our ATI guru lurks :)

    I'm a bit rusty on ATI's :eek::)

    I'd ask if you have installed the drivers for the motherboard chipset? If you using drivers that pre-date Win XP Service Pack 2 (2004), seek out more recent drivers.

    The 9200 may start working after that or you may need to uninstall and reinstall the ATI drivers and software (using the uninstaller in Add or Remove Programs). If you have any problems, use the F8 key when Windows is starting and select "VGA mode ", then run the ATI installer when you get to the desktop.

    Ah the pre-SP2 thing might be it. They are the drivers from the previous install that worked fine. Will look for new drivers.

    Thanx to you both ;)

    You Might want to uninstall all the previous drivers from the safe mode that will sometimes sort out the problem.

    Matt gave you the best information re: making sure you installed you motherboard's chipset drivers from your motherboard utility disc instead of relying on the generic Windows drivers that were installed when you did your Windows installation. This is a must.

    Additionally, since you've tried multiple installations of your ATI drivers, you now have multiple instances of them in your system32 file folder. I would suggest you download and install this utility and then select ATI and remove all of your old ATI drivers. Then reboot and install a fresh set of ATI drivers. Note: this assumes you followed Matt's advice re: your motherboard Chipset and gart drivers.

    ;)
