I am new to windows vista and fooling around with a compaq presario laptop, the volume is very low and I can't find the master volume control like in windows xp.
I went to accessories and I can't find it. You know like in xp you go to accessories then to enterainment and you would see the master volume control. Where is it in windows Vista?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Is this a new laptop with Vista pre-installed or did you upgrade?

Check for a "master" volume controller adjusted by keys on the keyboard.

You might find two audio controllers in the Notification Tray, one Windows, the other the "Sound Manager ". Also look through the list in Control Panel, you may find the Sound Manager there.

Look on the side of the notebook for a volume control knob/adjustment device.

I did check for volume control on the laptop itself, as my laptop (toshiba) has it in front at the righ hand corner. I will check again. This laptop in question is a compaq presario C770US.
    Thanks for the reply.
