Windows Vista Explorer.exe restarts when Control Panel Opens

    Hi All,

    Everytime I go to Start->Control Panel, Explorer.exe restarts; All my explorer windows including Control Panel/Taskbar, disappear and reappear.

    Any thoughts on how I can fix this? I don't have a virus/spyware; ran an AVG check.

    You could try a system restore to a previous date.

    However, I suspect you have caught something nasty and I suggest you run SuperAntiSpyware with a view to running HiJackThis afterwards.

    I'm not a fan of System Restore, but I'll try to run another Spyware scan.

    I'll let you know of the results!

    Does Administration Tool> "event viewer ">application.log show errors for explorer.exe and if so what is the module listed as causing the problem?

    Have you recently installed something that added a cpl icon to the "control panel "?
