Hi guys read your forums and i found that most people here are very helpful.

Anyway, every time i run a program, say a video converter(videora), my computer would just restart silently. I've read some posts here on how to disable autorestart so that a BSOD will show up, and yes it did with some error messages.

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

    ***STOP: 0x00000050 (0xBADOB148,0X00000000, 0X8056E77B,0X00000002)

wHEN I pressed the restart button, a dialog box pops up, "the system has recovered from a serious error
    Error signature
    BC CODE: 10000050
    BCP04: 00000002

    BCP2: 00000000

Thats it, please help guys, thanks so much!

That error message usually points to your RAM as going faulty, perhaps MemTest can diagnose for you.
    http://www.memtest86.com/
However, my computer has had this error in the past, and I found it to be a corrupt video driver. In my case the solution was to revert to the original drivers for the video card as the updated drivers was the problem.

There is still a free version of Memtest, but you might as well use the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool noting ....
The only satisfactory way of testing RAM is to test the installed RAM in various configurations. If you have a single module swap it around the slots. If you have a pair of modules run each one singly, swapping between slots; then run them in pairs swapping between pairs of slots. If you have 2 sets of matched modules do not get them mixed up.

To revert your graphics driver download an earlier version, uninstall the current drivers through Add/Remove Programs, reboot and install the earlier drivers.

If you have a memory dump read this and post the debug log here noting .....

You should have downloaded debugwiz.zip - at the bottom of that page. Unzip it and run debugwiz.exe - browse for your dump file and hit Generate Log.
Yes - it may be the cause of your problem.

i have done step 1 and step 2. downloaded and successfully installed the program, im quite confused on step 3, how do i generate a log? is the dump file i have(C:windows/minidump/midump1.dmp, minidump2.dmp, minidump3.dmp i've done a search of .dmp on my system and it only points on that location)the dump file i should be looking for? and if so how do i open it? when i double click the .dmp file it says it cant read it, on the other hand when i open it using the program (file->open-> there are so many options.

    please help

    thanks

I've disaBled rambooster, will let you know if its the program giving me headaches.

    Double click on debugwiz.exe .....

    The Wizard opens - screenhot

Hit the Browse button and locate your dump file in the Explorer type window which opens, highlight the file and click on Open

The path will be entered into the Dump file to be analysed box

Click on Generate Log - screenshot

The log is saved to C:\ - screenshot

Your log points towards a System fault and suggests to me that the problem is memory related so I suggest you follow Post #4 and physically check the memory.

When you get another dump debug it and post the log please.

What did you mean by this?
Do you have the computer case open?

    Is the CPU overclocked?

You should research the temp range for your specific CPU, then look in the Bios for the cut off temp, in case it is too low, if low do not set above specs.

I think your computer is running hot when you do this Video converting. Doing things like that will ramp up the temp greatly.

As a test I suggest you get a High Velocity personal cooling fan and with case open point it between the CPU and Video card.

It it runs ok, or runs longer before shutting down you need some extra case fans or HD Cpu and Video adapter coolers or both.

    Mike

i did what was posted on #4

Downloaded and ran a windows memory diagnostic tool, and fortunately, windows reported that there are no errors. Your other suggestion on post #4 is opening the hardware and swapping rams right? i can't dare open my cpu because when it comes to hardware i have no knowledge about it.

ill try running some programs and see if my computer still crashes

ps i have rambooster turned off

hi there. what i meant by "i can't leave my computer open to do it's stuff" is that i usually turn on the computer run a time consuming program (such as converting videos/music or downloading some stuff) and leave it as is while i multi task with something like watching TV. My computer or my CPU case is not physically opened.

Mflynn, i don't think that my computer is overheating or something, i went that route before (checking to see if my PC is overheating) to no avail. Also, it happens regardless of the temperature, my PC is near the Aircon and i believe overheating is not a problem.

Whether heavy tasks such as video converting or light tasks such as downloading a file, my computer just shuts off! and it does it silently (no windows logging off sound) one thing for sure is that, when i leave my computer as is with no processes running in the background, it does not shut itself. weird.

This thing is driving me nuts, :(

I did a full OS clean install before hoping that it will resolve the issues, but after a week and some applications later, I'm having the same issues.

What do you think i should do? Please help.

To PeteC, as requested, i did a diagnostic scan (windows said no errors) but after a while it gave me the same BSOD. here's the dump.

    As I posted earlier ....
So the fact that the memory tester came up with no faults does not mean that there are no faults :)

Your second dump file is essentially the same as the first so no further info available from that.
How did you check - what were the drive and CPU temps?
This is not quite the point - let's have some firm values .....

Downloas Everest and look under Computer > Sensor

Post the temps and voltages shown there when the computer is running 'normally' - say an hour after booting up.

    Is this an AMD?

    From your last post!
I DO! Everything points to it!

So lets monitor the Temp (if you have the sensors to do it).

Download install an run HWMonitor http://majorgeeks.com/HWMonitor_d5842.html

After installed if it found the sensors then let the computer idle long enogh to get an average reading, then throw the coals to it an watch the temp rise.

Oh boy - if those temps are to be believed then you have a serious overheating problem .....

CPU 73 - 80 deg C - that is way too high even for an Intel chip which run hotter than AMD which I have used exclusively for the past few years.

The System/motherboard temp of 125 deg C is way, way over the top - you could boil a kettle on it :) Although both Everest and HWM give the same figure the Min value given by HWM is clearly wrong at minus 119 deg

And the fan speeds are not to be believed either - 337,500 RPM, although the min speed is believable, but low.

I don't know how reliable HWM is - I had not seen it before, but I am familiar with the author's and their CPUID. Running HWM on my box gives results that I believe, so the problem may be with your motherboard and if it is really running at 125 deg , well ....

Mike hit the nail on the head - follow his suggestion to remove the case side and run with a fan blowing into it - leave HWM running and post back with the temps again.

Noted, but the temps are still way, way over the top even at that ambient.

    Room temp 87 F!!

    Geeze I swelter at 72!

Thats what Jed Clampett meant when he said "Whee doggie! "

If this computer is running that hot it should not last much longer until the processor is cooked and it will not be coming back on at all.

The HWM is pretty reliable has good reviews. But the leads to the sensors may not be installed correctly.

Lets get a couple more opinions:

    http://www.gtopala.net/download/siw-setup.exe

Install run and look a Sensors.

    http://rh-software.com/downloads/siv.zip

    Unzip and install.
Install run and look a Sensors.

This is like getting 2nd or more opinions from a Doctor. If the consensus is that you aare running hot then better act accordingly.

    Mike
