Using FF2, Vista home premium 64 bit.

When I log in on some web pages, the log in box drops down but is transparent so to speak. It "lays over" the web page so that you cannot read the "box" due to the writing underneath it on the web page.

Hopefully I have explained this properly. It is not a problem that I can easily describe.

This is not an "aero" issue - I have "aero" disabled.

This does not happen using IE.

Maybe I could post a picture -- can't remember how.

    Copy to paint, then attach?

Thanks to all good detectives out there for your ideas.

    Judy,

If you want us to take a look at a screen shot, only Subscribing members can attach images on Forums. However, you can upload the image to your web site, and then post the link to the image.

Do you have JavaScript enabled in settings:
    Tools | Options | Content

Are you using a Theme, other than the default? If so revert to the default Theme and see if the problem still exists.

I tried to post a link as Capt Davis suggested, but the link with the "overlay" would not work.

Then I tried to print and then scan the page. But the scanned page did not show the "overlay. "

    So now,

    1. What is the difference between a "subscribing member" and a "member? "

Yes JavaScript is enabled on FF

If a theme is an add-on -- I do not have a theme.

I can't even find the "print screen" on this new keyboard to be able to paste to Paint !!!

If I do figure Paint and Print Screen out, how do I upload to a web site and post a link?

Sorry to have so many questions.

    Thanks

Copy the link from the Location Bar, then paste the link in the Reply text box.

    See this explanation: http://www.windowsbbs.com/subscribe.php

Most ISP's give subscribers an amount of free web space for creation of a web site, or to store files, etc. If you have that, then you can upload a file to your web page, then post a link to that page, and the image.

I have uploaded several images to a web page for troubleshooting purposes. Here is one example:

I was at one time a contributing member, but guess my year ran out.

Did just sign up again. The system says it could be 24 hours before my account is activated.

So, will send you a "paint" pix of the web page with the "overlay" box when I get my confirmation.

    Thanks again

Ramona, I did attach the print screen shot that I was able to copy into paint and save as a jpg file.

Now, I hope it shows the overlay............

Thanks so much. This problem is happening on a lot of pages, windowsBBS included !

    Judy,

So far I am unable to come up with the transparent login window. The login looks as it should in my Firefox 3, however, I do run Windows XP Pro.

I don't think it is a Vista problem because it does not happen in IE. But it could be a combination Vista FF2 problem. ??

Will up load both the *.bmp and *.tif files to see if that makes a difference to your viewing.

Now I cannot get the upload function to work.

So don't know what to do next.

Can't use a web page on ATT since the Yahoo service they were using has canceled usage for ATT users.

Will email work if I can insert the jpg in an email ?

The problem w/ your FF is that background-color styles are not being displayed for you on that page. I'd suggest clearing your FF cache and check your FF Preferences. I doubt this has anything to do w/ FF themes.

That particular page also uses extensive javascript to set/change element styles, including background-colors. Thus check your FF javascript Preferences and preferences of any FF extensions that affect page styles or javascript handling.

    You are a genius !!

I changed my color settings from my choices to the "box" that says allow pages to choose their own colors, and
VOILA ! now I can see the log in box on it's own, not as a transparent box.

    THANK YOU !

    Thank you TonyT! :D

I doubt I would have ever figured that one out. I had been playing around with Java and JavaScript, but not that particular setting you mention.

I peeked at the code of that page.
Usually when a page is displayed "improperly ", the first thing to check is the Web page source code, then browser settings that affect rendering. (years of experience doing cust. support for a company that made a Web editor)

I will not try to be creative and just keep the settings at "whatever each web page wants." Good to know, though, that my page had many "improper" settings.

Also, I did have the same problems from time to time on this page. :)

    Thanks for your input.
