Thunderbird - Start Page = Disable

Everytime I start thunderbird, it brings me too this screen that looks like http://cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/07/Thunderbird2A.jpg

I selected in the options for it to go directly to my inbox, but it is not.

How do I fix this?

 

Tools/Options/General Tab/ : take out check in Thunderbird Start page. You might also want to go into your cookies and remove cookies for that site. Close TB and re-open.

 

Start Page

The Start page is unchecked and I still have the problem.

 

I have never seen a page like you displayed, which includes the about:TB.
What is under View? I see, also, something which may be trouble. You are using, for some reason, a 2.0a1 program. I don't know how many preliminary builds were created, but the present version 2.0.0.14. Preliminary versions are, often, very shaky. You have program which about two years old, and, also an alpha. If you are not, specifically, looking at old versions, forget about it. I don't know about the cybernetnews.com. I see it only in search place, as if you are looking for mail from that site.
Are you using only Local folders?

And I don't have an answer for the little window showing But, regarding going directly to the INBOX, I just went through this myself last week and we had a Thread on it and captjlddavis got me back on track.

SOoooooooo:.. Go to TOOLS - Account Settings:.. - Server Settings - and put a check in the box where is says "Check for new messages at startup "

With the box checked TB goes to INBOX - Unchecked it goes to the Accounts Screen.

I looked at the small window again and that looks like the same window you get after clicking on:.. HELP - ABOUT ?????

I took a 3rd look at the larger of the 2 windows your showing and I can't see any accounts set up as yet and you might not get the INBOX until a regular account is setup.

Thank you so much. That solution has worked. I have two accounts set up, Hotmail and Comcast. Hotmail had Check for new messages at start up checked and Comcast did not have a check on that.

After I checked that box for Comcast, it now goes directly to my inbox.

It sounds as though you're happy with Folderpane Tools but, for the user with only one account, who's OK with TB opening in the Inbox and checking for new messages when it opens, Folderpane Tools has little value. If it had the ability to order the folders within an account, that would be a different story entirely.

The user who doesn't need Folderpane Tools, but doesn't want TB to check for new messages when it opens, still has a couple of choices:

In the "Offline" section of the "Network & Disk Space" tab in Tools > Options > Advanced you can set TB to ask if you want it to open online or offline ( "Ask me for online state at startup ").

If that's too much of a nuisance, and you still don't want TB to check for new messages when it opens, click on the little light bulb icon in the lower left corner as soon as the TB window opens ... it takes TB offline immediately. Click it again to put TB online.​
