Check Name and Check Address problems

    1. Check Name
When I type / drag a name in the Full Name field, say John Smith, Outlook will treat John as lastname and Smith as firstname, and thus File as Smith John, and the Display as will be "Smith John (John_smith@hotmxxl.com). This is not what I want!

How can I change the naming convention of Outlook?

    2. Check Address
When I type a multi-line address in the address field, it always asusmes the address an US addess. And everytime the Check Address window pops up, the Country/Region must be United States.

Can I change the default to another country/Region? And does Outlook has the intelligence to follow the default country's address convention?

    1. In the contact there is a field called "Display." How is John Smith listed there?

I didn't get it. where is the "Display" field and how can I change the default?

"John Smith" is a fictitious name, commonly used in text book as an example.

Open any contact ->general tab and look for "Display." That setting determins what the person name will look like when sending mail.

    Yes I'm using 2003.

I click on Contacts in my folder list....I see my contacts and I click on one to open it and see the deatils of that persion.

On the General Tab->Right hand side I see:
    E-Mail... with an address
    Display As:
    Web Page address

Woops. Forgot I can attach a screen shot...Take a look:

Wow! It's cool to see a pict.

But Steve, please refer to my original question. I want to change the default sequence of "file as ". When "file as" has changed, the "Display as" will change correspondingly.

    Try this:
Type in the Full Name field "John Smith" (here John is the first name and Smith is the last name), and File as will appear "Smith John ". This is not what I want. I want it to file as "John Smith ". You see what I mean?

When you click the drop down arrow on the "file as" option do you see the option to select First Name first?

That means I have to do it every time. I want to skip the selection step. I want it "automatically" use my preferred option, not Outlook initial default option. (there are many options, but there is only one default.) e.g. you may choose one out of 300 countries in the country field, but if I want iceland as the default, but the field always display "United States of America ", how annoying and time consuming it is. Am I made it clear of what I want?
