Does right clicking and selecting Extract help?

No it doesn't. There isn't a right click menu. It extracts then the message pops up.

Download it first. Do not choose 'Open'.

It's downloaded as zip file. How do you install it without opening it?

Post a link to the download and I'll see if the file unzips for me. Perhaps the file is corrupt.

The file seems to be OK. It is evidently a firmware flashing tool (self-executing zipped file) so I won't be able to execute it successfully since I do not have that same printer.

I downloaded it (FW_5000_829.exe) without incident.

Then I double clicked it and it ran without incident but showed no report of having done anything, not even in the Event Viewer.

I then right clicked it and used Winzip to unzip it to its own folder without any error. I then ran the executable file that was revealed in that folder and it gave me an error to the effect that the particular device or drive was not present. I would expect that.

Other than telling you to be sure the printer is on-line and standing by when running the file, I can't take you any further.

    Good luck!

Best try downloading it again - delete your existing download first.

I think something is wrong on my pc but I don't have a clue. All other downloads seem to be ok. I have tried it 5 times so far. When I do a web search about this message it refers to an SDK problem but it's not related to this situation. Thanks for the input.
