how to open office 2007 word file in open office

    Hi to All

    is there any way to open msoffice 2007 word file in open office 2.2. i tried but all in vain .

    Any one who can help will be appreciated

    When you save the Word 2007 doc do a "save as" and change it to an older version like Word 2003.

    You can also get a free conversion utility for previous versions of Office to open Office 2007 files.

    i will give u the scenerio my friend has send a office 2007 word file to me and on my system i have open office 2.2 installed so how can open that office 2007 word file in open office becoz i dont have the office 2007 installed

    Ask your friend to resave the file and resend it.

    I tested beta version of Open Office 3, and it converts M$ Office 2007 files pretty well. It still has some problems with ppsx files (conversion is not seamless), but other formats work well.

    "'save as' and change it to an older version like Word 2003. "could deal with your problem,but as you see,it will make some word 2007's functions not be used well , such as the cover of your file.
