No I can do both at the same time as long as I uncheck the AGN Filter Interface which is only needed for the AT&T Global dialer. The dialer is only needed to connect to a particular set of servers.
Also this issue occurs whether I'm at home on my ISP or at the office on a T-1 line.
Either way I can completely disconnect the Internet from the Wan port and my machines (They're in the same location) will not be able to access each other unless the "AGN Filter Interface" is unchecked.
Maybe I don't understand but I can't see how internet access is related to networking my machines together. I'm not trying to access my machines at home from the office or vice versa. I'm just saying that other than the fact that I have a T-1 line for internet access in one place both network setups are the same and have been experiencing the same issues.

It wasn't until post #17 that I figured out the "AGN" issue.

    Ok.
Now I need to figure out if there is a way that I can have my AGN and network too. I don't yet have the dialer on my laptop but I need to have it there as well.
I really need to find a work around for that...other than unchecking it every time. The users aren't going to like having to do that.

    Capt

I was in a hurry this morn on my way out. So let me clarify and expand my last post.

I think your problem is where the AGN is installed.

My understanding is without the AGN that the internet and all shares work? Yes!

I can't tell from the thread if you have done the following:

Remove AGN from the Local Area connection. Check that internet and lan shares do work!

Now go to properties of the VPN that requires AGN.

    Properties-Networking!
In type of VPN if Automatic select the correct type if you know it
for now remove QoS Packet scheduling
now add the AGN to this connection

If AGN is not available to add, you may have to reinstall it back to the local Area connection then come back to the VPN and see if it will now allow you to add it.

Once it is added then you should be able to remove it from the local area connection and it stays installed on the VPN. Depends on how these things are written. ATT is not so standard sometimes.

Now test and get back to us.

    Mike,
When I go into the VPN I can go into Setup wizard (I Don't see Properties)
When I go into NETWORK it asks which networks I'd like to access?
    What's picked is "My Company's Intranet" The other choices are;
    • The Internet
    • Both The Internet and My Companies Intranet
    • Default
    Below that is a drop down with these choices;
    • FixedIP
    • Managed VPN-IPsec
    • Managed VPN- SSL
    • Standard SecureIP
Standard SecureIP is what is currently selected.
Do I need to change any of these settings?
I set it up this way as instructed by the help desk folks with whom I log into.
Of course they don't care if I can network my machines...they're only interested in how I connect to them.

    Hi Ron

I was assuming this was a standard Windows VPN connectoid.

Yes At&T it must be 3rd party.

I think you need to check out but not change anything on all three
    • The Internet
    • Both The Internet and My Companies Intranet
    • Default
Not being a windows vpn then I am not familiar with the settings.

Go into setup on "Standard SecureIP ". Try to find the protocols TCP, File and printer sharing etc and see if the AGN filter is here and if not try to add it.

So go in a step more and get us some more info/options.

Some screens of this sure would help.

    Hi Ron

I have never had to to it.

Hopefully the moderator or someone will give instructions on how to get some screen shots.

    Others do it.

I believe one of those online sharing sites.
