While downloading a large file, I must have ran out of memory.
Hope this is resolvable and not unrecoverable as indicated.
I can't get any program to close or any clean-up operations to work.
Afraid to turn it off because it may not restart again.

Any experiences with this and any suggestions or solutions?

    Thanks,
    charlie

Click start and turn it off and restart. The message is just information.

We need more informstion about the computer, e.g., how much memory, what brand and model no. etc.

Sounds more you ran out of Hard Disk space. Have a look at Clean up your Hard Drive

OK, after a while I had the courage to reboot - and it was fine.
I just got spooked by the message "unrecoverable error ".
Last similar message, "Imminent Hard Disk failure" message was very accurate and HD did fail within 24 hours.

    Thanks for the replies.
