I haven't had a sucessful update since 12/12/2007. It keeps giving me the error code 8007000b. I've tried the help on the computer and it hasn't done anything to resolve my problem. I have windows vista home preminum. I reall need to update. It always says update failed and gives me the error code

    First,try to close UAC.
    Then,Reboot.
Then, "run" and type "cmd "
Next, type "fsutil resource setautoreset true %SystemRoot%:\ "
    Then,reboot
At last, you can unlock UAC now
You can use your update this way
    Try!;)

You won't have to switch off UAC to run the command. You'll just have to start an elevated command prompt:

Click Vista's Start button, and in the Start Search box type cmd. At the top of the Start menu (under the Programs header), you will see cmd.exe listed; right-click this entry, and from the context menu click Run as administrator (you can also press the Ctrl+Shift+Enter keys simultaneously after you typed cmd in Vista's Start Search box, this will also get you an elevation prompt to run cmd.exe in administrator mode).

    Try this:

    1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories
    2. Right click on Command Prompt
    3. Click Run as administrator
    4. At the command prompt type fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\, hit Enter
    5. It should give the response The operation completed successfully
    6. Type exit
    7. Reboot
