I have recently bought a Compaq Presario F756NR and it came with 2 GB of ram.

According to sites like Best Buy and others on the web, it has a RAM limit of 3 GB.

What I want to achieve is Dual-Channel Ram but to keep it this way I would have to get 2 of the same amount and ram company which I know about.

I know the 32-bit version of vista can only take 3024 mb of ram so I was hoping to put 4 GB in and have the max size for graphics and the rest all windows.

    So would it work?

This limit is probably the 32bit limit that you already know about.

So if I were to buy 2x2GB dual channel it should still boot and work although windows will only see around 3024 MB and then the rest will probably be all video memory and other?

Motherboards have Ram limits which is different then the limits of the Operating system.

I'm not sure what will happen if the mobo has a three gig limit and you install 4 gigs. It might boot ok and only use see 3gigs or it might not boot at all.

The limit on the OS is simple...The pc will boot and run fine but will only use 3 to 3.5 gigs of ram. The unused ram will simple be unused.
