ok, so i go to check my email as usual today, and my hotmails are fine.... but my sympatico ones keep popping up a window asking for my b1 number and password (which i have it set to remember, so its already there, and i press enter.) it thinks for a minute, same popup... i thought ok, maybe just a fluke... so i went on about my day. well now, 3 hours later... STILL doing it. so i went online and checked it through the site... it sends me through this rigamarole about resetting the password (it demanded it, not an option), so i did, then i went into my account and put it back to what it was (in outlook)... and STILL... it just will not log into my accounts anymore....

    why???

    its outlook express 6 BTW

This has happened to me too, on a few occasions. I just sat on my hands and after a few hours the service provider had finished messing around and it was back to normal. It's not certain that the problem is with the service provider in your case but it is not unlikely. When problems like these pop up, sitting on ones hands may be the easiest solution. If it persists for more than a day ... :p ... get off your hands.

By the way, I edited your thread title to be more descriptive of the problem!

just for kicks, i tried it on my laptop just now (set up the same way, working sucessfully until today)... the same thing is happening.

im hoping its not something like sympatico no longer allowing the use of outlook express.... i would hate that.

but i dont think its on sympaticos part because their web mail and such is working just fine... i dont understand...

Go to sympatico and look in their help file section. Search for things like Outlook Express and Prompt for password.

honestly, since theyve merged with msn its impossible (for me anyway) to find anything related to only sympatico. i tried google, but it didnt really find anything. on the other page that someone directed me to, said its possible for the account for outlook itself to be messed up. but, would that be able to happen on 2 computers on the same day?!?

I was 99% sure it was something outside your boxes but I didn't expect that! My service provider has had problems that "spilled over" on the customers and I have heard about many people who (in this context) have tried to fix a problem they didn't have and messed up their computer instead.

However, sitting on your hands would not solve this one. Good work!

i knew it was weird for a day later a server issue to not be resolved by then. its simple changes like, now instead of "pop6.sympatico.ca" its "pophm.sympatico.ca "

i just wish they would have sent out a newsletter or something... they sent one saying "your email will be upgraded!" but it didnt say anything about needing to change technical things like that.... oh well, at least now its fixed! :)
