Resolved Registry data not found

I installed and then uninstalled Vista on a separate drive. Then i installed and uninstalled a Creative program for the keyboard on the main drive. I then tried to make a spanned volume. That would have caused my main drive to be "unmounted ", so i stopped there. I did format the 2nd drive with NTFS and then transferred some files to it. When i boot computer now, i get "registry data not found" error. Everything still works tho and the registry still is there(i checked).What should i do to get that error from popping up each time i boot up?

 

Modifying partitions is "hairy" in my opinion. Installing Vista along with XP can cause problems, so I would move the data off the "separate drive ", go to Disk Management and delete the whole partition, then make a new partition and format it.

You have done some "no-no's" from my point of view (making Vista partitions and "trying" spanning). I suggest trying to start from scratch by removing the partition on the "separate" drive (that might include low level [zero] formatting).

ALTHOUGH...the error message relates to the registry (without the registry or even if there is major damage in the registry, Windows will not work). What is all the information in the error message? Does it show a program that is generating the message in the top left-hand corner of the error box?

Install and uninstall the Creative program again. Watch that there are no problems.

Try to isolate what is generating the error message, if so, why is it doing it?

Thanks mattman! I'll try that and see if it helps. I think the message is related to the Vista i removed. I'll format the 2nd drive and start over with the programs i have on it(games).
Then i'll see where that takes me.

 

Well i got it all fixed so far. The games won't install properly on the boot drive now but i'll work on that problem yet. A total wipe using a NSA 7 pass worked wonders on getting rid of vestiges of Vista and getting error message deleted.
Seems even low level formatting didn't get Vista gone.
