When using Files/Settings Transfer Wizard it asks for a storage location, so I select (CD) Drive E:. However, when it reaches the point at which it starts to write data it asks me to insert a (floppy?) disc, even though drive E: has a CD in it.

Why is it appearing to ignore my 'Drive E:' specification?

I don't want to proceed with XP installation without this facility.

I do not believe the Wizard can burn files to a CDR or CDRW disk. You'll need to use floppies or a USB thumb drive. See this guide.

You shouldn't select Floppy drive or other removable media, but instead use Other option. Then save the data on your hard drive and burn the resulting folder to CD or DVD.

Thanks Tony and Arie - I haven't tried the solution yet but almost certainly you have sorted the problem. On this basis I am marking this as solved.
