I'm not sure where this post goes.. XP, Networking or Hardware. I assembled a new "kit" desktop with a new MSi MoBo and added a new copy of XP Pro SP-3.
Everything seems to work except the system cannot connect to the internet.
I see no network adapters in the device manager (like I do on my other XP machine). The lights on the onboard LAN port are not lit. I know the cable and router are working o.k. Is this a configuration issue or do I need to acquire a PCI LAN card?

Hi plinkfroyd, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Did you install the chipset drivers for your motherboard? Since you see no network adapters in Device Manager have you installed the drivers for your network card?

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

I did put the details in my system profile, however the MoBo is an MSi G41M-P34 w/Intel Pentium E5700 CPU. And you are correct in the assumption that I did not update the chipset. I'll do that now and re-post. Thank you for the quick reply.
