Install XP, it will work.
First, go to the manufacturer site and download the xp drivers for the pc.
Put 'em on a thumb drive, you'll need them after XP is installed.

If you have either the Pro, Ultimate or Enterprise version of windows 7 you could also use 'Windows XP Mode'.

IMHO, its much better to stay put with Win 7 & use virtual machines for running older programs as suggested by markmadras.

Its not much fun to have the latest & greatest [and costliest too] hardware only to run an old OS [in computer terms].

I'm in complete agreement with rsinfo and markmadras re: the Windows XP Virtual. I use it myself for some sticky 32 bit driver problems and (admittedly OLD) scanner. Works like a dream and as a bonus, you get a free licensed "Windows XP". I use mine for onsite troubleshooting as well.

Try VirtualBox.

Its free & works with any WinXp/Vista/7 flavour.

If you want help, you'd have to reproduce some memory error verbatim (word for word) here...
