    Hello,

I actually found my exact problem within the forum, but it was not answered. Here is a link to that one http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-xp/75915-full-system-recovery-freezes.html. I tried the only solution there, but don't think the option exists on this computer.

Basically my comp is frozen while I try to reimage it. I have a new hard drive and new disks and the problem persists. I have also now had suspicion it was not the hard drive. It's an HP running windows XP. I've reimaged hundreds of machines and have never seen this before. model number is a1616n. Thanks.

currently it gets to the "Preparing recovery partition - please wait" and freezes at different points

occasionally I get "hard drive write error" As I said though new hard drive

This could be a problem with your memory, try reseating the memory sticks and give the recovery another go.

Filling in your complete system details may help us help you.

Check the connectios to the hard drive and reseat the connections.

That suggests the power supply but first try the power connection on the MOBO.

hmm... everything seems fine. I think the motherboard itself is gone. Might be about time to call it on this one. I'll keep playing with it though.

OK, sounds like this one is not going to make it.

haha it seems it won't. I can scrap it for parts though so it is not a total loss. Thanks for all the help.
