After Verizon and MSN got divorced, I switched over to Comcast as my ISP and phone (already had their cable TV). I've been trying to clean up the stuff I don't need anymore, but I can't get rid of some items.

I get the "Access Denied" message when trying to delete from "My Computer ", but the programs don't list in Control Panel's Add/delete function.

I ran a search, but could only find one thread which didn't apply to this problem.

    Ideas?

    Steve:

    The programs are:

    McciTrayApp.exe, VerizonSupport.exe, vzConnectionAPI.dll,vzPluginMgr.dll, vzOpenUIClient.dll, vzFeaturePluginMgr.dll, vzPaperBag.dll, vzUIEngineMgr.dll, vzOpenUIEngine.uie, vzSysTrayUIengine.uie
There are also 13 "Plugin.Zip" files. All the above give me the "Cannot delete (filename) - Access denied" message.

Two others, vzHttp.dll and vzServices.dll, return a "Reg Srvr 32 Module not found" diagnostic message.

Do a search for 'unlocker'. Have used it (downloaded from cnet). Works.
It's a safe download but be careful what you delete with it.

Sometimes - definitly not always - Access Denied is for a reason.

ps. love it when gotta take ownership of a file/folder to delete it - ** here- take that - ZAP!

    Ephemarial:

What really ticks me off is that, when I quit using a program (in this case changing my ISP) I can't get ris of the dregs left by that program.

I don't understand why Verizon/MSN ISP software isn't in the "Control panel add/delete" listing. Like they're some kind of super system that mere mortals can't mess with? I paid for their service and now I don't want it any more, so why can't I get rid of it using the normal Windows functionality?

I'll give the program you suggested a try.
