Hi Uncle Buck, you've asked a curly one here. I looked in Wikipedia and they listed the Editions of XP:
    Starter Edition,
    Home,
    Professional,
    Media Center,
    Tablet PC,
    Starter,
    Embedded,
    Home N,
    Home K,
    Home KN,
    Professional N,
    Professional K,
    Professional KN,
    Professional x64

Where did you get the listing from? Is it off the genuine Windows XP CD?
    Cheers Neil.

It must be a modified Windows license. i heard so many editions on pre-activated Vista. Or I may be wrong in judging Uncle Buck's situation.

Sorry if I may not help.

Same license because it's the same operating system. There's nothing different about the operating system. The XP Home installed on netbooks is the same one that gets installed on desktops and laptops. The "small screen" limits you see and feel are limits set by the video driver and monitor.

The listing came from the Win XP sticker affixed to the bottom of the netbook (Dell Inspiron 1210).

I wonder if the OEM has access to an edition of XP that is specifically designed for netbooks ? Is there such a version?

    No, there's no "netbook" edition.

What are K and KN versions?
    What is XP N?
