If you used recovery CD, or recovery partition, all is gone.
There is a very slim chance to recover anything...

You can try: http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/...very-software/

Just a note: You most likely didn't not run a Windows XP System Restore, but you ran the OEM System Restore CD, which formatted your PC and reinstalled it as it was when you first received it.

Probably you didn't see the warnings you'd lose all data.

Most people here would turn to the #1 software on the link Broni posted above, Recuva

thanks for the help. But I have moved on. I wish I could have got the pics back at least. I did get some of the music and part of the programs I had loaded. It was a wierd deal. I was only going back to a restore point just hours old, I still am not sure where it went. some data stayed some disappeared, i even got to the files folders once, but when i tried to open it said (access denied) I don't know near as much about all this as I think I do. lol

In cases like this the following most likely applies ....

How to take ownership of a file or a folder in Windows XP

I've marked this thread as 'Resolved', please see .....

New Functionality: Marking a thread as 'Resolved'

We have added new functionality to the forum that allows you to mark your threads as 'Resolved'.

It is considered courteous to post a reply if you have been able to resolve your problem, or received an answer to your question. If you were given multiple suggestions/solutions, it is also helpful if you would list the solution that worked for you.

Once you have posted those details, when still looking at your thread, near the top of your thread you'll see Thread Tools. Click the down arrow to expand the drop down menu, at the bottom of it you'll see Mark this thread as solved. Click on it to mark your thread as solved.

If later you find that the problem has returned, and you had previously marked your thread as solved, follow the steps above. Instead 'Mark this thread as solved' you will see that in this case Mark this thread as unsolved is listed.

Please read the User Guide for more information.
