I am trying to remove unnecessary programs from my laptop.
I have Google Desktop which I want to use as a search tool. Can I remove Search Companion that comes with Win XP? Can it be safely removed without damage to the system or I should leave it ....? Would I need it ...? Any apps related or dependent on Search Companion?
Thank you.

Hi 810311. AFAIK Windows Search is integrated into the Windows XP OS and cannot be removed. Its up to you if you want to use Google Desktop or Windows Search as your search tool. If you want to use Windows Search then you can try updating to Windows Search 4 and see if you like it.
