It's quite normal to be asked to supply the Original Install CD when running sfc. You can avoid that by doing as I suggested in the last paragraph of my previous post.
That issue has been beaten to death several times on this forum and by using the search feature offered at the top of the page here you will find all the answers you need and probably several you don't. It requires some Registry editing so all the normal cautions apply.
There is a pretty good outline of the SFC process HERE. With the various Service Packs and Updates, the process is pretty convoluted to say the least. The version of your original install CD and the method used to install any Service Packs all come into consideration when working with SFC. Often it is necessary to edit more than one Registry Key to accomplish the task of allowing SFC to run without asking for the install CD.
Since this information is a bit off topic to your original thread, perhaps it's best that you read that link I offered and see if you want to try the process. Then if you hit a snag, start another thread with that topic.
The search issue is.
The slipstream doesn't appear to be heading in that direction. After trying the 1st directions, that apparently didn't work (probably due to operator error)
and reading the 2nd set, which look way too complicated, I'm probably going to give up since the search aspect is fine, though I'd like to know if there are issues w/ my machine.
If I don't get a response by morning I'll mark this one resolved.
