My System

Dual Boot of XP and Linux

I have XP SP3 installed on disk 0. Works just fine.

I have Linux Ubuntu in stalled on Disk 1. Works just fine.

In order to boot into Linux, I have to unplug my Disk 0.

If both drives are plugged in, It boots into XP.

I want to see a screen where I can select Ubuntu or let it alone and it will boot into XP.

My Boot.ini only lists Windows with no mention of Linux.

Could this be fixed with FIXMBR? Or do I have to do it from Linux?

What order did you install these in?

If you had XP on first, and then installed Ubuntu (which version?), then you should get a GRUB screen that lets you pick your OS to boot to.

In fact, you should be booting, by default, to your Ubuntu OS.

My System

Windows first Then Ubuntu 9.04.

I had XP HDD unplugged while I installed Linux on the other HDD.

That is the problem, I do not get a choice of OS to boot to.

Right now I am booting straight into XP.

I'm on my way out the door, but will do some more research later. In the mean time, try looking at this forum post where someone did it opposite of you (linux hd first, windows second).
