Desktop theme changes at random times

    Win XP SP3, Athlon 64 X2:

    I have my desktop theme set to "Windows Classic (modified) ". Every now and then when I reboot, the theme changes back to the standard Win XP.

    Not a really big problem, a few clicks and resetting the desktop photo and I'm back to normal. It's not a big problem but it is an indication that something isn't working right.

    However, I'm wondering why this is happening and if there is anything that I can do to fix it.

    As I said earlier, it doesn't happen with every reboot. If it did, it would be easier to troubleshoot.

    Fixing intermitten issues is tough....People could suggest several things and it could be a while before you know if the ideas worked or not..

    Sure wouldn't hurt to create a log to make note of what you were doing before you get the different theme.
