Canon printer missing .dll file

HI . im having trouble scanning from an canon mp510 printer to my pc . A MP Navigator window comes up with the message ' cannot find mpning.dll ' and cannot proceed any further . I am using Picassa 3 and have Windows XP Home with SP3 . Hope someone can help . Thanks .

Have you tried uninstalling the canon drivers and reinstalling them?

Do you have the original CD(s) that came with the printer? If yes go to control panel and remove any software concerning cannon then disconnect your printer and use that CD to reinstall (you'll be told when to reconnect).

Let me know how you get on I'll be online for a few hours yet.
