I am having difficulty resolving problems on my wife's computer. The most obvious thing is the number of Excel, Word, Navigator mail window she has open... upward of 50. She has 2 GB of RAM, so RAM shouldn't be the problem.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

At times application windows freeze and won't close until the application is ended in Windows Task Manager. Some strange things are occurring in Excel also. Open up a new Excel document, enter info in a couple of cells, then when the cursor is moved randomly over cells, entries from another open Excel program appear as long as the cursor is over the cell.

Maybe you could run a anti virus scan for trojans?

    Steve-

I don't know. I haven't been on it that long after a restart to know.

    Arie -

I don't!! But if you're married, you know wives. I have told her not to, but no success as yet. Looking for confirmation that it is not good in order to convince her.

While we have a good anti-virus that is supposed to check for Trojans, too, that's a good suggestion. Will give it a try. She just closed all her files so that I could do some needed maintenance ... now's the time.

    Thanks to you all!!

I'll confirm it's not good and I'm pretty sure most would agree.

That good enough for you :D

I am married, but my wife wouldn't dare.

Looking for confirmation that it is not good in order to convince her.

So if I say so that would help? "I say so ".

Here's an idea.....The age old joke:

"Hey DOC - It hurts when I do this. "

    "Well stop doing that. "

Tell her you've discovered that 24 is the magic number of windows...if she exceeds that, she'll get more wrinkles.

    Steve & Arie ...

Thanks, Guys, I'll quote you both. :)

But let me qualify my remark wrt wives. I should have said, "head strong professional." Don't want to insult wives in general.

Another one: Be fruitfull and multiply doesn't apply to computers...

But, are alot of the apps that are open IE? If so, maybe you could tweak it to not open a wole new window and just re-use the currnet one.
