similar to TJ1320 post 1 day ago

as i said, similar to TJ1320's post; as to reply, i don't feel vibration when i plug it in, so may just have to find someone to recover data...anyway, tried to download Service Pack 3 a week ago, there was a conflict with a Beethoven No.9.wma file, wasn't able to resolve, not really sure what i needed to do...so cancelled, got a message that some things may not work properly, etc., OK...did a System Restore, didn't think too much about it until i couldn't access my i-tunes on 9-10-08...F: drive is an external drive which controls my i-tunes, carries most of My Music and Pictures, my Event Viewer shows warnings event 51 throughout most of 9-9-08, nobody was home when the warnings started, but the time coincides with my AVG virus complete test...also, had trouble with a usb mouse about 2 weeks ago...since i realized no F: drive, i have tried different usb ports, and like TJ1320's post, initially 'drive not recognized' was on taskbar but not lately; plugged into another computer-nothing happened...tried a different cable...the light on drive is a steady green...Dell computer DIM2350 about 4 1/2 years old...probably should have backed it up recently...would appreciate any feedback
