XP is unable to detect WDC SATA HDD during installation.

Hi! This is Apoorva.

I have recently purchased an HP 530 Notebook with 160 GB WDC SATA HDD in it.

Now, the issue is that when I try to install Windows XP on this notebook through a bootable XP disc, it is unable to detect this WDC SATA HDD during boot up.

Alternate to this issue is to load the SATA Controller drivers by pressing F6 during setup but unfortunately, I am unable to do that b’coz my notebook does not have a floppy drive.

So, I decided to Turn Off the SATA option through BIOS and then, XP detected the SATA HDD & the installation was smooth & successful.

Now, my question is that once all this is done, if I now Turn On the "Enable Native SATA" option through BIOS, then my XP won’t detect the SATA HDD again and instead, it reaches the XP boot screen and restarts the computer automatically.

For your information, I have also installed Windows Vista Ultimate on this notebook and turning the SATA option On or Off does not matter to Vista. I hope if this piece of information helps you in guiding me ahead with an effective workaround to my issue.
