My laptop crashed yesterday and when we tried using the recovery disk, we got the message, corrupted pcmicia.sys file. Unable to continue with installation.
we are unable to boot from safe mode also. It runs a few files and then locks up and is unable to continue.
We can't even get a c: prompt to install linux.
Can anyone help me?

Arie,
Thank you for the response. I had checked the hard drive, and it was fine.
It ended up being the ram memory that was bad. Since I had upgraded the memory 6 months ago, I didn't think that was the problem. When in desperation I decided to replace it with the old memory I still had it booted up fine. So all is well for the time being.
