working for the church. we are trying to show a video by using Windows Media player and dual screening to get it on a large projector screen. the system has windows xp dual screens are enabled....the computer will identify as monitor 1 and the projector screen identifies as as #2....but....when I insert the dvd and open media player, I can either have the media player on the computer screen or I can drag it over to the projector screen.....why won't it display on both??
I work the computer from "behind" the projector screen, so I need to be able to control it from the computer screen. I have tried all I know how to do.....and there doesn't seem to be anyone available that knows the answer....HELP!

This suggests that you are using a desktop rather than a laptop - correct?

With a laptop the Fn key plus the display key toggles the display between laptop, secondary display or both.

A desktop is a little different - I guess you have 'Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor' set in Windows display properties (Control Panel > Display)

Look in Control Panel for an icon relating to the graphics card - on my box for example it is NVIDIA Control Panel as I have an nVidia card. There may also be an icon in the Notification Area by the clock.

The option you are looking for in those display properties under dual/multiple monitors is 'Clone' which puts the same display on each monitor.

yes, it is a desktop....and yes the settings are enabled to extend the desktop. I was told about the toggle key on a laptop, but can't seem to find any combination that will do the same on this desktop.

I am at home but running the same system here (windows xp) on 2 computers. I can find the info about nVidia on both computers but no where in there is there an option to "clone "........the help files for windows don't mention having the same thing on both monitors, which is making me wonder if I will be unable to do this.

this sound & video system was installed and cost an arm and a leg.....and I am beginning to think this setup is second rate! For instance, looking at it now, why in the world wouldn't they have given us a laptop? GRRR

thanks for the information and I will ck on the church computer when I am there.

A lot may depend on which graphics card you have - mine is an nVidia G-Force 6600 - nothing special and the software includes NVIDIA Control Panel - screenshot.

Graphics cards with chips other than nVidia, ATI for example will have different software.
    There isn't one :)
