Upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro

Thanks for taking the time to read and possibly reply to this post..

My college student son just bought a Dell Latitude D630C with XP Home, but now needs to upgrade to XP Pro for some college based programs. Through his bookstore he has bought a pkg that has both XP Pro & XP Pro x64(Student Media / Work at Home ) CD's . These appear to be full programs and not the upgrade version

My question is that.. can he upgrade from Home to Pro with what he has purchased? If not, please let me know what is the path I should take. As a final note, these cd's were in a clear plastic sealed bag and labeled as Vista Downgrade to Windows XP Pro...??

Thanks again for your time and assistance.

Kindest regards,

David

Well it's always best to do a clean install, not an upgrade. This also means backing up existing data (music, files, documents, email, email settings, favorites, etc) and then having to install all 3rd party drivers and software. But it's the best way to do it to get a stable system.
