    Hi,
That can be a sign that the shutdown process is not being completed correctly. You are using Start -> Turn Off Computer? Does it shut itself down? Do you need to "cut the power" to shut it down?

Go to My Computer, right-click on the drive and select Properties -> Tools tab -> Error Checking button. Put a check in both boxes and run the scan. For the Windows drive it will need to scan when the computer is restarted. It could take several hours. Set it to run overnight. Check if there is any error report when the scan is completed and make a note of those.

If startup returns to normal, go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools. Do a Disk Cleanup (don't bother to "compress old files ") and then run a Disk Defragmentation (that may take several hours as well).

Check that the Windows drive has at least 25 -30 percent freespace available otherwise you will need to start moving your data to backup disks and uninstalling programs that you may no longer need.

    Matt
