I can't get the volume icon to appear on the taskbar. I've gone to to control panel, sounds and audio devices, clicked "place volume icon in the taskbar, clicked apply and then OK. I've also Right clicked on the taskbar, selected customize notifications, selected "Volume" and choose "Always Show ". I've restarted the computer and still no volume icon on the taskbar.

This is a recent problem, as the icon has appeared before. In the greater picture, this is not a major problem, but is it annoying to me. Thanks in advance for any advice.

PeteC, Thanks for the quick response. I will try this when I get home--gotta work. However, I don't get the error message.

PeteC, I can now control the volume of my computer via the volume icon. It was simple once your put me in the right place.

On a side note, I had a dear friend, who recently passed away. He was my computer guru, solving many of my problems. Long ago he told me about using google to search for a solution to a microsoft problem. I still think of him, but, alas, I have forgotten some of his advise.

    Thanks again,
    Ron

Glad to hear that the 'official' fix worked for you - Google is your friend :)
