Registry - "Unable to Delete ..."

Running XP Home Edition with SP2.

I installed the trial version of Acronis True Image v11 today, then decided I didn't want to keep it and uninstalled. Wanting to remove all registry entries, I ran the search function of "Registry First Aid 6.1.0 Platinum." it found 43 entries but would only let me delete 37 of them. The other six were labelled "no permission to modify." So, using Regedit I searched for "Acronis" and found all six. But when I try to delete them, I get the message "unable to delete all specified values." They are all variations of "HKey Local Machine\System\(either CurrentControlSet or ControlSet001 or ControlSet002)\Enum\Root\Legacy ...."

I don't care that they're there if there's no harm, but 1) I'm very annoyed that a trial piece of software is allowed to irreparably alter my registry, and 2) I am concerned that if I want to try another Acronis product that those entries will be problematic. So, I want them gone.

Any way to delete them?

Thanks for your help.

You can modify the permissions on those entries by using RegEdt32 from the command line, finding their locations and right clicking and choosing the permissions you need.

Also, the keys/values may be tied to the system temp dirs which contain Acronis files that "are in use". Usually a reboot, delete the temp dirs and then delete the keys/values.

If you installed and uninstalled the software on the same day, use system restore. Problem solved and it would save you all of the manual registry editing.

Fixed

Thanks for your quick replies. I tried the "permissions" fix first, and that did the trick.
